My Bloody Valentine
I'm still shaking from the adrenaline rush.
Now, I'm not a big horror film person. This is the first one I've ever seen in person and only the third total. The things I do for actors I like. *rollseyes* That being said, I think it was a great movie, if you like horror films.
A lot of slasher pics always struck me as being rather plotless, one of the many reasons I never really got into them. This one had plot. Really good, interesting, I can totally pick apart the psychosis type plot. The traditional crazy gore fest is also very much there. It's a hard R folks, don't take your kids (unlike some idiot at the theater tonight). There's also extended full female nudity, just FYI.
Jensen was fantastic. I've seen a lot of his stuff and that could have created a bit of a disconnect with his character (Tom) but I got sucked in and as per his usual, you wouldn't ever mix Tom up with any other character he's played.
The 3D thing gave me a bit of a headache, but I think it's best seen in 3D. Some of the shots were clearly meant to take full advantage of that and things jumping off the screen at you and the depth of field are a must for proper viewing. The opening sequence is just fantastic use of the 3D tech.
All in all, if you like horror films, you'll love this movie. Hopefully Friday the 13th next month is just as good.
