CBS: You and I are fucking done!

This behavior is completely unacceptable.

Exhibit the first: Charlie Sheen is getting $2 million per episode for Two and a Half Men while he has charges pending in CO for threatening his wife with a knife.

Exhibit the second: Criminal Minds is cutting A.J. Cook (Jennifer 'JJ' Jareau) entirely and reducing Paget Brewster's (Emily Prentiss) episodes significantly. (Two out of the three female cast members.)

I call sexist bullshit.

If the cast cut on Criminal Minds is really about saving money, they could have done the common sense thing and pulled a Numb3rs. You know, not have every single cast member in every episode. Reduce all cast members' episode count by three or four and keep the phenomenal cast intact. But nnnnnooooooooo, we're going to get rid of the women and just get a new female cast member later. Because, you know, women are so interchangeable it's not going to matter. Bullshit.

So, next fall TV season? No Criminal Minds, NCIS, Big Bang Theory, or The Mentalist for me. And I won't be trying out Hawaii Five-0. And I'm writing CBS and the advertisers on CM to complain.

Please pardon my language. I've been getting my feminist rant on lately and this just hit me all wrong.

You know, my husband and I were talking about this the other night, and I made a comment about how it's sad when FOX does women and POC better than other networks. Then I was thinking about my favorite shows, and the ratio of men to women, and POC. Bones has a very diverse cast (relatively speaking) and is fairly balanced with men and women. Leverage has gender equality, and Hardison breaks a lot of geek stereotypes. Eureka has about an equal number of men and women, and a fairly diverse cast as well. Those are my favorite shows. We need more of that.
