I really like Catherine, so I'm excited. I went back and forth on Lori a lot. I think I would have liked her more if she'd been a bit more about reigning McGarret in, as was supposed to be her job. Also, if the writers hadn't cut Kono's lines. Like, instead of giving both female characters equal time they only have so much time for women, so Kono got half as much to do :( Hopefully that doesn't happen with Catherine being there.
I wanted to like Lori, and there were moments when I did like her, but I would agree. Her character didn't live up to the promise. I would have liked to see her clashing with McGarrett more, or even clashing with the governor over not reining McGarrett in because she was in favor of H50's methods. Anything but "Oh, I like this guy so I'm not going to do my job."
Apparently giving the vague idea of a storyline with no fleshing out qualifies for "a really great arc" (http://blog.zap2it.com/frominsidethebox/2011/06/hawaii-five-0-a-new-team-member-and-more-season-2-teases-from-ep-peter-lenkov.html) for women on this show. Per one of the producers/writers. *headdesk* He seriously though the whole arc with Kono a the beginning of the season was a great storyline for her and it "really [gave] her a lot of meat." Like, really dude? We get more about Danny or Steve from one freaking episode than we got about Kono from the entirety of that arc. Grrrrrrrr.
