The Internet Is No Reason To Abandon Proper English
Really. I really, truly mean that. You should still spell out words and use proper capitalization. And for goodness sake spell check stuff before you post. And, for those of you who write fan fic - people talk in contractions more often than not, at least American people. Thankfully none of the people on my flist have this issue.
Can you tell I've been trying to find a good fan fic to read and haven't been having any luck? A good chunk of people just can't write. They have decent story ideas but the characters are all wrong and the grammar makes me cringe. So after about three paragraphs I get so annoyed I have to abandon the fic regardless of how interesting the story seems. Cause some people just cannot write. *grrrrrrrr*
Okay, rant over. Feel free to ignore this post completely.

Norwegians learn Norwegian,
The Greeks are taught their Greek.
In France every Frenchman
Knows his language from A to Zed.
The French don't care what they do, actually
As long as they pronounce it properly.
Sorry...had a random "My Fair Lady" moment. Heh.

Date: 2005-11-16 04:42 am (UTC)From:I am completely with you on the grammar issues in fanfics, lately. I hate it when I'm reading something, coasting along, getting into the story, and then a simple mistake smacks me in the face and throws me right out of the moment. :-P
If I can ever get my bloody fic finished(It's taunting me!! I hate being stuck.) I'll give you something to read, I hope. :) It's mildly fluffy, as I've had enough emo in my life lately, and I wanted something smiley. LOL

Date: 2005-11-16 10:56 pm (UTC)From:Some of the Star Wars novels (published) totally get the characters wrong- that's annoying (but some are *really* good).
Maybe someday I'll post a fan fic- that is, if I ever get the time to sit down and write one. ;) But I'm a terrible speller- thank God for spell check! :D
