joining icon contest communities. I blame this solely on abrynne. She kept post about them, so I joined movie_stillness, entered a couple of contests, have yet to win but I'm having fun.

So in the last week I've joined:
scifi_stillness
buffy_stillness
hp_stillness
snape_stillness
stargate_still
starwars_stills
sw_lims (just watching this round, intend to participate in the next)
james_stillness
rickman_stills

Now all I have to do is sit down and get with the icon making. Oh dear.

Did you do the header graphic thing for movie_stillness? I entered mine earlier this week. That's one of the cooler things about that group, I think.

It's a good thing :) I need motivation to do graphics stuff and these contests are just the thing.

It's a stillness group that's running a lims challenge right now. Which I joined too late to get in on, which is fine with me.

I haven't tried the header graphic thing. I'll do that next round perhaps. Right now I'm just trying to get enough creative energy to make icons for the rest of the contests.

I like too many fandoms. And I won't enter every contest every time. But I need the push and inspiration for doing icons, so I join communities.

um... I don't want to sound stupid, but how do you make icons? I mean, what programs or whatever do you use? I've made a few icons before in the photoeditor on my computer, but it's not a very good program for icons and the icons are just plain and nothing great. any advice would be appreciated. :)

I use Photoshop, some people use PaintShopPro. You add texture, text, sometiems color. Tutorials are the best way to go for a beginner.
