This is kinda fun. Stolen from [livejournal.com profile] fernwithy and [livejournal.com profile] spikewriter.

The rules: Go to Wikipedia and look up your birthday (excluding the year). List three neat facts, two births and two deaths in your journal, including the year.

Three things that happened on July 28th:
1868 - The 14th Amendment to the United States Constitution is adopted guaranteeing African Americans full citizenship and all persons in the United States due process of law. (cool)
1914 - World War I begins: Austria-Hungary declares war on Serbia after it failed to meet the conditions of an ultimatum it set on July 23 following the killing of Archduke Francis Ferdinand by a Serbian assassin. This event leads to the outbreak of war. (well, that's depressing)
1973 - Summer Jam at Watkins Glen rock festival attended by 600,000 to see The Allman Brothers Band, The Band, and the Grateful Dead. (fun)

Other people born on this day:
1866 - Beatrix Potter, English author, Peter Rabbit
1929 - Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, First Lady of the United States
1945 - Jim Davis, American cartoonist, Garfield

People who died:
1655 - Cyrano de Bergerac, French poet
1741 - Antonio Vivaldi, Italian composer
1982 - Keith Green, American gospel singer, songwriter, and pianist

FYI:
Also Peru's independence day

Well, that was interesting. Seriously.
